One of the first things people ask me when they are beginning on their own journey of eating healthy with the 21 Day Fix is how I give up comfort food. My answer? I DON’T! And why should I when it’s soooo simple to make it 21 Day Fix friendly? Take a Ziti Bake for example. Typically we think of it as full of carbs & cheesy goodness, right? Well, that doesn’t have to change to make it 21 Day Fix friendly (I know, I know, you’re skeptical, but trust me!). It’s all about doing things in the right portions!

But speaking of portions, a serving of this Healthy Ziti Bake is huuuuuuge. Nick couldn’t believe it when I told him that the huge pan of it that I made was actually just 2 servings. I think part of him was bummed because it meant no leftovers for him to take into work that night, but the instant-gratification part of our brains was suuuuuper pumped that we got to eat a big, old bowl of cheesy pasta goodness!

Honestly, I really didn’t have to do much in order to make this dish 21 Day Fix friendly. Sure, I used a little less cheese than most people probably would and I added broccoli into it in order to bulk it up without adding much extra calories, but other than that, this Ziti Bake is pretty darn true to the original. Which is probably why it felt so indulgent to eat! And I paired it with a simple side salad with my Creamy Cider Vinaigrette and BOOM, a satisfyingly delicious 21 Day Fix friendly dinner that I will for SURE be making many more times!

Trust me, it might not be the prettiest thing in the whole wide world, but it was freaking tasty AF! Yeah, I just busted out the ‘AF’ haha, deal with it! And for my fellow 21 Day Fix friends who are wondering what the container counts for a serving of this baby are, I won’t leave you waiting any longer! I counted a serving of this as 1 yellow (pasta), 1.5 red (ricotta & ground beef), 1 blue (cheese) and 1/2 purple (marinara sauce). Not too shabby, right?! And trust me, your tummy will thank you for making this! So let’s get ya to the recipe, shall we?!

21 Day Fix Baked Ziti

A 21 Day Fix friendly Baked Ziti recipe!

  • 3/4 cup ricotta cheese
  • 1 tsp Italian Herb Seasoning
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp sea salt
  • 1 cup cooked whole wheat pasta
  • 2 cups cooked, chopped broccoli florets
  • 1 1/2 cups cooked, lean ground beef
  • 1 cup no sugar added marinara sauce
  • 1/2 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese


  1. In a small bowl, mix together the ricotta cheese, Italian herb seasoning, sea salt & garlic powder.

  2. In a large bowl, mix together the pasta, broccoli, ground beef, ricotta mixture and marinara sauce.

  3. Pour mixture into a baking dish and top with the shredded cheese. Cover with aluminum foil.

  4. Bake at 400 degrees for about 35-45 minutes, or until bubbly and cooked through in the center.
